The Moment

This is a piece in the line of compositions for live diffusion starting with Crushing Silence

where I used for the first time Double Exposure Virtual Acoustics™


My Synclavier II which first was used for compositions like the theme for the highly successful film

Jönssonligan ( in Sweden )  and also among other compositions Car Crash available on major platforms re-enters the sound palette. But this time I use it in a different way than 40 years ago.


Here comes something interesting when it comes to the approach to the instrument.


In 1981 the Synclavier II was a sensation. Digital, buttons on the panel - the same as used in

american B 52 bombers. A knob to twist left or right in order to decrease or increase the chosen parameters whether fm or decay time or modulation values.


Also, this instrument could record the sounds when using the FM sounds.


1982 Beat It with Michael Jackson starts with the sound of a bell - from Synclavier.


For me I used the instrument with the preset sounds because  they were already so amazing,

a combination of technology and sound which was ready for recall at any time.


If you have used a modular synth from the 70's you know there was no such thing as recall because the tone generators would after some time need re-tuning and the digital “print” of the sound didn't exist because it was analog.


When working with the Moment 2024 my approach to the instrument was quite different.


Now I used MIDI to control certain parameters in the sound which 40 years + after my first encounter with the instrument totally changes the impression of the instrument.


Why the name the Moment ?


When do you consider that a change took place ?  Was there a moment predicting the outcome ?


Can we see it in retrospect ?


the Moment is a journey with references from classical music sudden changes all based on my time in Paris and the inspiration from Groupe de Recherches Musicales
